Help achieve Polaroid/ retro effect in photos?
I have a canon powershot SX200 IS camera and photoshop CS4 i have gone though many tutorials from deviantart.com but can not find the one to suit me
I would really like to achieve this style of colors in my photos
http://www.brooklynvegan.com/img/music2/ arctichumbling.jpg
and this
http://www.polyvore.com/teenage_couple_p olaroid_credit_moi/thing?id=9184143
and (especially) this
http://www.polyvore.com/wildfox_fantasti c_fangs_flashdance_off-the-shoulder/thin g?id=11517515
I have some knowledge of layering and changing curves etc. so the tutorials don’t have to be for complete beginners. i guess i need separate ones for each of the styles but really can’t find the right ones they never turn out vibrant and don’t look very professional (there not as clear and are dimmer, often have the colors and shades that make them look cheap) ….
buying a Polaroid camera is not an option for me as the paper for it is too expensive
thank you to everyone who can help
create a color balance adjustment layer then double click in the layer mask thumbnail and select 50% opacity then select the gradient tool and use the radial gradiant to drag across the pic then adjust the color balance slider into red and magenta or whatever. playing around with the gradient type and opacity should give you that kind of effect. then maybe go to filter>noise>add noise and add about 10-15%

The first two are quite similar in the end result, but I think the the third is very much the opposite.
The first two images are quite low in contrast, partucularly the second one. Use an upwards shaped curve to get that.
The third is done with an S shaped curve, it’s quite high in contrast, and also lit artificially.

Kentucky Movies somewhat recent?
I know Coal Miners Daughter,Eliizabethtown are 2 good movies that are Kentucky movies any other good ones? I love Kentucky any ideas?
"The Dollmaker" (1984) set in backwoods of Kentucky in pre-WWII, does very well illustrating how rough life was in these poor rural areas.
"We are Marshall" (2006) The tragedy and rebuilding of the Marshall football program. Huntington, WV is just across the state border. It was big news here too.
"Harlan County War" Dangers of coal mining and labor disputes with coal companies.
I don’t think they come out right and say it, but I believe "The Little Colonel" (1935) is supposed to be in Kentucky. Shirley Temple movie, post civil war time, family infighting, happy ending. Typical of movies made in the ’30s. But enjoyable.
Not sure if it was set in Kentucky, but Steel (1979) was filmed in Lexington. A stunt man filmed one scene falling successfully and later attempted another fall to set a record, but the air bag broke.
"Goldfinger" (1965) also shot some scenes in Lexington, KY. Wow has the scenery changed!
Please, please, please avoid "Next of Kin"! Don’t say you weren’t warned. The culture clash plot could have been good, but the stereotypes went over the top and the story line went from suspending what happens in the real world to outright implausible.

Music and Lyrics (2007)
IMDB rating: 6.50
Plot: Cheery Alex Fletcher lives comfortably in Manhattan off the residuals from his 80’s pop success and reprising his hits at school reunions, theme parks, and state fairs. But those gigs are declining, so he jumps at the chance to write a song and record it with reigning teen idol Cora Corman. Trouble is, he’s good at melodies but needs a lyricist and has less than a week to finish. Enter Sophie Fisher, subbing for a friend who waters Alex’s plants; she’s a pretty good poet, quick witted, and could do it, if she’d agree. But there’s some sort of shadow over her head that Alex may not be able to charm his way past. And what if they do get a song written, what then?
