Does the Drake equation disprove the Bible since it does not say that there is Life elsewhere in the Universe?
N = R* X fp X ne X fl X fi X fc X L

N = the number of civilizations in our galaxy with which communication might be possible;
and
R* = the average rate of star formation per year in our galaxy
fp = the fraction of those stars that have planets
ne = the average number of planets that can potentially support life per star that has planets
f? = the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop life at some point
fi = the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop intelligent life
fc = the fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that releases detectable signs of their existence into space
L = the length of time such civilizations release detectable signals into space.

Don’t you think God would mention this obvious reality. If you deny that this Universe of immense space and time is only here for this planet you are hopeless.

Maybe, but all you need is common sense to disprove the bible.

Don’t believe everything you read. Science has it’s share of lies as well.

No, this proves that you and the inventor of said equation have way too much cannabis and time on your hands.

But the bible allows me to blame anything bad that happens in my life as gods will so that I never have to confront any real issues in my life!
Jason | Mar 19, 2010

No.
We knew that the Bible was just a book of mythology long before we had that equation.
? Nino ? | Mar 19, 2010

Okay… but using your "logic", the Fermi Paradox would support the Bible.

Luckily, your logic is a bit of a non sequitor.
Paul B | Mar 19, 2010

That equation is a theory, not a scientific fact.
Goupidan | Mar 19, 2010

No, it doesn’t disprove it, though it doeesnt mention it, it does not deny it. We are not alone in the universe (probably), but we are loved immensly as a planet by God.

Drake equation doesn’t guarantee, it has assumptions of conditions of life existing for solar systems of stars.
but still it is better than bible, i would say.
~the dragon~ | Mar 19, 2010

No. The bible is the inerrant word of God. I trust the bible over the word of man at all times.

what are the name of those tiny green turtles you buy illegally in chinatown?
theyre tiny and green, like the length of about a double AA battery and they seem to die pretty quickly. what are they called? are they really illegal.

They are hatchling red ear sliders. They actually are illegal in some states…
Charissa | Feb 01, 2010

I think they are red ear sliders. It depends on the state. Most states it is illegal to sell any turtle less then 4" across. The reason is that children put everything in their mouth.
Ganal | Feb 02, 2010

They are almost always red-eared sliders. Legality is a gray area. In theory federal law prohibits the selling of turtles smaller than 4" in shell length but there are exceptions. The one that might apply is that it is legal to sell them for educational purposes. You learn something from keeping a turtle, don’t you? At least, that is what a lawyer would argue.

Most of them are red ear sliders, although occasionally you will find yellow belly sliders or painted turtles being sold. They die quickly because people don’t know how to take care of them properly. They should live 20 years or more. Sadly, people are too dense to pick up a book or do a simple online search on how to take care of their animals, and they end up killing them way too early. Most of the ones you see for sale are, in fact, being sold illegally. It is illegal in the United States to sell a turtle with a shell length under 4 inches. The only exceptions are sales for educational purposes (purchaser should be able to produce proof that they are an educator) or sales between "reptile enthusiasts" (both purchaser and seller should be knowledgeable on all care requirements for the species being sold).
